Morph targets

A morph target is a second shape for the same points. A weight blends the base toward spike or squash, and both weights can be on at once.

Weights

At 0 you see the base sphere. At 1 that shape is fully on. The two weights add together. Their sum can be more than 1.

Where this is used

Character artists and riggers build face shapes on one mesh. Animators blend those shapes for a smile or for speech. This is how many films and games move a face.
The points stay on the same model. They do not jump to a new mesh.
A product page can blend two shapes of one object, so a viewer watches the form change.
In medicine, a related method blends two shapes of the same bone or organ to show a change.

Common mistakes

The mesh is not replaced. Spike and squash move the same points on the base sphere.
The two weights do not have to sum to 1. Both can be on, and their sum can be more than 1.
A morph is not a matrix move. The points slide toward another shape of the same mesh.
